Aerodrome of Castelo Branco
Castelo Branco's Aerodrome is operated by Aeroclube de Castelo Branco to which Sobrevoar Hang Gliding School (Escola de Asa Delta Sobrevoar) is associated.
It is placed north of the town and very near to it, by N233 Road.

It is placed in a high thermal potential area, free of large aircraft circulation, making it ideal for free flight activities. It was recently start place of a flight longer than 250 km and often we have flights with more than 2000 meters height gain in thermals.
The runway is 900 meters long and has a hangar and social installations. It is east-west oriented (09-27), very much aligned with local trade winds.
Flying there allows one to enjoy a beautiful view over Beira Baixa's plains, backed by Serra da Estrela mountains.
Other activities are also present at the Aeroclube, like ultralight flying, Aircraftmodeling and Sky Diving, making a visit there always thrilling.
